New Program: China
Travel to Teach has just opened a new project in China.
We recently had the honor of a visit from Jessie Duan Mu to our Head Office in Thailand. Jessie is the Director of Shanghai Xu Bo Education and Culture Exchange Co and will also be the T2T coordinator for our new program based out of Shanghai. We will have volunteer projects in Shanghai city and in the picturesque nearby village of Feng Jing town.
China has a great need for native English teachers and we feel this project has a lot of potential. To read more about these new projects, please visit our China home page.

Child Sponsorship in Cambodia
Sponsoring Students in Cambodia
A wonderful trend is being set in our partner school in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. At the Seametrey Montessori School students come from very varied cultural and economic backgrounds. As one of the aims of the school is integration with many of the children coming from difficult circumstances and impoverished backgrounds.
Bridget Cox was a volunteer at Seametrey last fall and formed a bond with two students in particular, siblings Srey Mey and Channit. Before her departure she decided to sponsor these children by sending money monthly for their schooling and their future. And now another volunteer, Sarah Johns and her parents are doing the same, sponsoring two other children at the school. We hope to see this trend continue! Read more
New Computer Teacher in Cambodia
Simon Apsey at the Seametry School
In May we welcomed a volunteer by the name of Simon Apsey into our program at the Seametry School in Cambodia. Simon has spent years working in the IT and computer industry and will be with us for the entire summer passing on computer knowledge to both the students and staff of Seametrey.
Earlier this year a computer room was established in the school but until now did not have a proper computer teacher. Simon’s main objective for his time as a volunteer is to teach new computer skills along with improving English language skills. In addition to teaching these valuable skills he is working on the school website and creating interactive web-based learning tools for the students. Both Travel to Teach and the Seametrey School are very pleased to have him with us. Read more about our programs in Cambodia.
Children's Summer Camp in Costa Rica
Summer Holiday means Camp in Costa Rica
For the second week of July children at El Torito School in Costa Rica will be on holiday. During that time uVolunteer will hold an interactive “kid’s camp” for all children in the community interested in attending. The week will be full of interactive, hands-on games and activities including: arts and crafts, cooking, painting, photography lessons, gardening, and more.
Each day during the kid’s camp we will have brief English lessons and encourage students to speak in English throughout the day. This is an ideal opportunity for us to take an active role in community development and teach the children more English, new skills, and keep them active and having fun during their holiday. Read more about these new projects on our Costa Rica page.
